Design and Analysis of Parallel Algorithms
Welcome! In this course, we study how to design and analyze parallel algorithms that can efficiently use large-scale parallel systems to solve challenging computational problems. The current push towards energy efficiency favours heterogeneous hardware systems that contain processors with different architectures such as a general-purpose multi-core CPU connected to a massively parallel accelerator such as a graphics processing unit (GPU).
This semester you have the unique opportunity to participate in the PRACE Spring School on Programming for Accelerators organized by SNIC and hosted by HPC2N. The four-day intensive course is taught by external experts from the Finnish IT Center for Science (CSC), Intel, Edinburgh Parallel Computing Centre (EPCC), and Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC). The topics include the new Intel Many Integrated Core (MIC) architecture and programming for GPUs with the OpenACC programming model.
