Intelligent vehicles are in demand by forestry, as well as construction, mining, agriculture, and other industries. IFOR, acronym for Intelligent Off-Road Vehicle (in Swedish: Intelligenta Fordon Off-Road) focuses on research and development, aiming at improving the collaboration between man and mobile machines, and vehicles in off-road terrains.
IFOR's goal is to support development of machines with high productivity and good work environment, promoting their ability to process advanced and dangerous tasks. Therefore, the machines contain various autonomous (self-directing) sub-systems, or are altogether autonomous.
