Tour 2005

Sometime during the summer of 2004 I started to get very interested in long distance bicycling, especially self-supported touring. Since then I've read all the travel diaries that I could get my hands on and it's always facinating to read about the adventures that people manage to get themselves into. Naturally I had to try it for myself and I might as well try it a lot.

So I ended up with a planned route more than 5000km long, passing through five countries. I also planned to spend some time with my family in the southern parts of Sweden, visit a few Source Mage friends in the Netherlands and hopefully meet other interesting people on the way.

The trip started from my home in Umeå, Sweden during the morning of June 5th and I returned July 31st. I did complete the ride to Lund and back but never went to the Netherlands by bike, mostly due to time and finance constraints. I did go there by bus though, many thanks to Bas van Gils∞ for his and his family's hospitality.

In the diary you can read about the day to day life on the road. When reading, you'll notice that the weather is of great importance :-)
