Background
PhD in Computing Science with focus on Parallel Computing and Numerical Analysis in 1995. Tenure at the Department of Computing Science, Umeå University since 1995, currently with a position as Full Professor (previously as senior lecturer and associate professor). Member of the group for establishing and running the High Performance Computing Center North (HPC2N), since the start-up in 1996. Swedish National HPC Lecturer (1997 - 1999), an appointment inititiated by The Swedish Council for High Performance computing (HPDR), and later supported by the Swedish Foundation for Strategic Research (SSF) and the Swedish Council for Planning and Coordination of Research (Forskningsrådsnämnden). One year as Post Doctoral Fellow at NERSC, LBNL, University of California, Berkeley. Visiting Scientist at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Cambridge, MA, USA (three months). The SIAM Linear Algebra Prize 2000 was received for a joint paper with Alan Edelman and Bo Kågström. (For the most outstanding linear algebra paper published in English in a peer-review international journal world-wide during 1997-1999.) (A note in Swedish.)
